Yarn Production
The yarn in our clothing is produced by Fulgar, an Italian company that in 2009 became the first producer of Polyamide 6.6 to achieve the EU's Ecolabel for environmental competence and performance based on the environmental impact throughout the product's life cycle. Their sustainable initiatives include establishing an eco-friendly production system, an internally designed water management system that contributes to optimal water use for cooling air and equipment, and recycling over 63% of the materials during the production cycle. We want to be transparent about who our suppliers are and how our products are made, which is why we created this article to give you insight into how we have evolved into a sustainable brand.
Swimwear
Our swimwear collection is produced by Sensitive Fabrics, another Italian manufacturer that through "The SensitiveEcoSystem Project" has focused on reducing water, energy, and chemical consumption while minimizing carbon emissions and waste.
Denim
Our denim comes from Isko, one of the world's leading denim producers who distributes denim to large parts of the globe. Isko works to set the standard for sustainable sourcing and production of denim, striving to maintain an open process to influence others to follow the same standard. Isko aims to get all the ingredients in their denim certified as eco-friendly and continuously works to achieve the most sustainable business model possible. Isko is also the first denim manufacturer in the world to receive the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
Fabric Production (fleece)
The fabric we use in some of our garments comes from the supplier Pontetorto. One of Pontetorto's core philosophies is built on protecting nature and developing strong environmental awareness through various eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives. This includes initiatives like: - Use of environmentally friendly products - Extensive use of recycled materials, including recycled plastic bottles - Use of innovative technology powered by solar energy - Integration of eco-friendly raw materials - Focus on reducing microplastic emissions during fleece production.
REPREVE
REPREVE is a fiber made by Unifi. When producing sustainable clothing of good quality, this is the fiber to choose. REPREVE is one of the most sustainable fabrics we use in the production of Famme garments. What sets REPREVE apart from other fibers out there is that it is not only of good and durable quality but is made from recycled materials like plastic bottles. By using REPREVE fabric, you are not just engaging in ethical and sustainable clothing production and reducing environmental emissions, but you are also producing beautiful and functional clothing that can withstand more. REPREVE is used by many major brands including Famme, and using REPREVE is a good step in the right direction for brands to increase their responsibility towards the environment in the clothing and fashion industry.
NILIT
Famme uses yarn from NILIT for our seamless clothing. As Famme is a leader in seamless activewear, using NILIT in the production of these garments is one of the most sustainable and responsible choices we can make as an innovative clothing brand. Yarn from NILIT is produced in an eco-friendly and ecological manner, utilizing resources for water conservation, renewable energy, resource preservation, and recycling materials used in the production of the yarn.

Lycra
Famme uses Lycra (distributed by Fulgar) for many of our products. Lycra is a fiber made from recycled materials and known for its durability. Durability is one of the biggest factors that make clothing sustainable, and investing in longer-lasting garments is an easy choice that can significantly impact the environment. Lycra fibers are produced in a way that conserves energy and reduces various costs. In addition to engaging in sustainable fabric production, Fulgar is a company that continuously works on how they can continue to become more sustainable. A framework has been published on the website about Lycra that explains how the fabric is eco-friendly.

Noble Biomaterials
One of the core values of Noble Biomaterials is sustainability, and their technology, methods, and facilities are utilized with the intent of improving responsibility and environmental friendliness. This is yet another supplier that Famme employs to create beautiful and functional sustainable clothing for women. Clothing produced using Noble Biomaterials' technology, such as Ionic+, ensures that these garments are not only of good quality but also last longer and can be used for more than just training, for example. Textiles from Noble Biomaterials possess many beneficial and functional properties that distinguish this supplier from others, considering their innovative technology and sustainability. Silver is one of the elements they use, with a focus on silver recovery.
Eurojersey
Eurojersey is used in our swimwear. What makes Eurojersey one of the more sustainable fabrics available for clothing production in 2022 is that the supplier has a concrete and sustainable production model. To produce this fabric, resources are dedicated to reducing water consumption and energy use, and they also have measures to minimize the use of various chemicals. The production of Eurojersey fabric contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions and waste, which is why Famme produces clothing with this fabric to create more sustainable attire.

FOV
Another sustainable supplier that Famme uses is FOV from Sweden. FOV invests heavily in their own local factory in Sweden and focuses on relating all production and methods to environmental friendliness, working to ensure production exists in harmony with the ecosystem. Among other things, they have a vision of having virtually no negative impact on the environment. They do this by always ensuring compliance with laws and regulations regarding emissions resulting from clothing production, constantly evaluating the impact of their current clothing production on the environment, and setting goals for how they can be even better in terms of sustainability.

Halley Stevenson
Halley Stevenson is a supplier for a special type of cotton, namely waxed cotton. This supplier also produces quality fabric that withstands weather conditions. Halley Stevenson’s production of this special type of cotton has a very low environmental impact, and the cotton is sourced responsibly—making this supplier one of the most sustainable choices Famme can make for clothing production. The weather-resistant fabric means garments can be used for much longer, leading to purchasing fewer clothes, and thus increasing responsibility towards the environment.

SITIP
SITIP is a supplier Famme has used in the past for our Thermal Leggings. SITIP is an Italian brand working to make their production strategy more environmentally friendly by participating in various environmental projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions resulting from their fabric production.
Products using SITIP are unfortunately discontinued.
Brugnoli
Famme has previously used Italian Brugnoli, which is also regarded as a highly eco-friendly supplier for fabrics for sustainable clothing. Brugnoli creates eco-friendly collections of fabrics and textiles from bio-based and raw materials. The process involved in producing these fabrics and textiles is based on recycling, as this supplier makes fabric from recycled materials and materials that are biologically biodegradable in the future. This way, this supplier extends the life cycle of many products and materials used to create their fabrics and textiles. This supplier has a very low environmental impact concerning their overall production.
Thermolite
Thermolite is a durable fabric used, among other things, to make clothing warmer. The supplier employs a production method that uses recycled materials, which is considered very eco-friendly. Thus, Thermolite contributes to "sustainable warmth" without the need to add extra fabric or textiles. Additionally, the quality of Thermolite is so good that it lasts much longer, making it more environmentally friendly by not constantly replacing or buying new clothes.

A-Girls
A-girls is one of the most luxurious suppliers to Famme from Japan. A-girls is considered one of the most prestigious suppliers in the world and is definitely the best for textiles, having received several awards for their work. This supplier focuses on innovative textiles and excellent quality, which fits well with Famme garments, as we have a strong focus on stylish functionality and top quality. Using luxurious suppliers and collaborators is a good way to ensure that ethics are addressed at all stages, from ordering to production. Our desire and vision to create beautiful and functional clothing of high quality can be considered very authentic when we choose to work with such high-end suppliers.
Toki Sen-I
Famme uses another supplier from Japan, namely Toki Sen-I, to create beautiful and luxurious garments. The production method is unique and since its inception, this supplier has created knitted fabrics that can be used to make incredibly comfortable textiles and clothing. This supplier has also increased its focus on sustainability, aiming to produce clothing in harmony with nature. They invest in sustainable fabric production as they work toward ensuring that all textiles and fabrics are produced in an eco-friendly manner. For instance, they strive to reduce their use of various fuels and always consider their impact on the environment.

Sandes Garn
Our popular and wonderfully soft wool socks come from the supplier Sandes Garn. Sandes Garn is one of the largest suppliers of knitting yarn in Northern Europe. The yarn from this supplier is based on fiber from nature and produces a type of wool that itches less and is thinner, as well as softer. The core values of this supplier are quality, reliability in delivery, and good design. This is also one of the sustainable suppliers that Famme utilizes, as wool itself is a renewable resource and can decompose 100%. The supplier also uses non-toxic dyes throughout the process to produce wool and yarn and has a lot of control over water use and wastewater discharge after production. In terms of actual production, this supplier predominantly uses electrical energy and works to use more electrical energy than natural gas, for example, in several areas of their business.

Bamen
Bamen is a supplier with the philosophy of creating excellent product quality. Bamen produces cotton used by Famme in our Sky Knit Socks. Bamen is a supplier focused on the environment by producing fabrics and textiles in harmony with nature, respecting nature; they constantly observe how production is done concerning its environmental impact. Bamen also supports the farmers who contribute to cotton production. Overall, this is a supplier that aims to create a "healthy" product in every possible way from start to finish, which Famme evidently utilizes to produce sustainable clothing of good quality.

Transilana
Transilana is a supplier in Romania that produces various types of yarn for different purposes, whether it's knitting yarn, yarn for socks, or thicker yarn that can be used for knitted sweaters. Transilana also produces Merino wool, which is well-suited for quality socks, and that is exactly why we at Famme use this supplier. This supplier excels as they specialize in many different types of yarn and have a keen eye for quality in their fabric production, as well as being good at specializing for the customer regarding production.
Montifibras
The Portuguese supplier Montifibras is one of Europe's largest suppliers of synthetic fibers. Their fibers have many good properties, including antibacterial and odor-neutralizing qualities, making them suitable for socks among other things. Montifibras meets stringent requirements for ecological fabric production and the social responsibility that comes with being a producer in 2023.
YKK
YKK is one of the largest suppliers Famme uses. YKK is one of the world's largest suppliers of zippers, and as a large company, they also have a significant responsibility for environmental friendliness and sustainability. YKK is regarded as a sustainable supplier as they recycle old materials to produce their zippers. Additionally, they produce zippers made from plant-based materials.

SBS
Famme also uses SBS as a supplier for our zippers. And like all the other suppliers we use, this supplier is also extremely eco-friendly. SBS significantly contributes to water conservation while working towards using more environmentally friendly technology when dyeing.

E.Textint Corp
E.Textint Corp is used for the logos. This supplier is considered highly sustainable because much of the production focuses on recycling old materials to produce logos. Innovative technology allows much of their production to be based on eco-friendly methods, making them an attractive supplier for companies looking to partner with sustainable businesses.
Paiho
Paiho is the supplier Famme uses for shoelaces and engineered mesh. This supplier is regarded as sustainable as they actively work to participate in various initiatives to take care of the environment and our planet. For instance, they aim to continually reuse water in their production processes and collect rainwater for use in production. They also use biogas and natural light in their factories to minimize unnecessary resources and costs. Additionally, they recycle steam (resulting from production).

Ortholite
Ortholite is one of the suppliers to Famme responsible for the insoles for the Endorphin RX1 shoes. Sustainability is one of Ortholite's focus areas and they actively work to integrate sustainability into all aspects of their business. For instance, they engage in recycling old materials to produce products and they also use a technology that involves bio-oil, leading the company to utilize fewer natural resources.

Clothing Production
At Famme, we actively work to establish strong connections with our suppliers. The goal is to offer the latest trend products at an affordable price. In a market full of players, it is of utmost importance for us to ensure production quality and that our standards are upheld.
This is both to protect workers and to improve product quality. To ensure this, we have followed each step, from start to finish, since we began. Since 2013, we have visited more than 100 factories. Many of our producers are among the best in the world. These trips not only provide us with motivation and inspiration but also a deeper understanding that enriches us as a brand.
What can you do?
Secondhand - Swap or Donate
Did you know that on average we throw away about eight kilos of clothing in residual waste every year?
Therefore, we have created a Secondhand group on Facebook for swapping and purchasing products. By shopping secondhand, you do a service for the environment. You can find the group here. If you still can't sell the product, Fretex is a good option. Remember that it’s not just clothing you can donate!
Sustainable Wardrobe
By taking better care of your products, you can ensure a longer lifespan. We have compiled 3 simple tips:

- Feel free to use the original packaging the product came in if you wish to return an item.
- Our products arrive in plastic or cardboard packaging. By sorting these, you help us take better care of the environment.
